Photo Tour of “Certified Organics” at Costco

Not a day goes by without someone asking me where I do my grocery shopping. And most folks are surprised to hear that I do the bulk of my shopping at our local Costco store. I don’t eat 100% organic all of the time, but Costco does carry many certified organic products at very reasonable prices. To ease your curiosity, I took a bunch of pictures while I was shopping this week so you can see what I mean…This is not the entirety of their organic selection, and some products do change from week to week, but this is a fairly good sampling of what I found today…(Click photos to enlarge.)

Gluten-Free QUICK Oats!!

About a year ago, I was on the prowl for some gluten-free oats, but I could only find the “Old Fashioned” variety, even online. It was brought to my attention the other day (thanks, Pam) that Bob’s Red Mill brand does now carry certified gluten-free QUICK oats! Yay!

They’re available online, but if you live in Omaha, I did find some at the Baker’s on 132nd & Maple Streets (in the “health food” section) yesterday – WAY cheaper than paying shipping for an online order! I also found them at Whole Foods – regular price $6.99, but on sale now through June 28, 2011 for $5.98! I haven’t tried them yet, but will let you all know how it goes…

I’ll also let you know if I find them anywhere else in Omaha! If you know of another retailer that carries the QUICK variety, please leave a comment below. Thanks!

Kombucha On Sale at Whole Foods!

If you’ve never tried Kombucha (fermented tea), this is a GREAT time to give it a try because you’d be hard pressed to find a cheaper deal in Omaha! Synergy brand is usually sold for $3.39/bottle at Whole Foods, but right now they’re just 2 for $5!!!  Sale ends June 14th! Of course, the cheapest way to enjoy Kombucha is to make your own like we do, but Chad decided to try a couple “fun flavors” anyway since they’re on sale 🙂

A Peek Inside My Grocery Cart

Here’s what I ended up with this week at Costco! Best deal EVER on organic quinoa!! That product, alone, pays for my membership! (Click photos to enlarge!) That’s a FOUR POUND bag, people! Not the tiny little box you find at most stores for 4 bucks! And the maple syrup is the cheapest I’ve seen in town, too! Same is usually true for the ginormous pinepples and bell peppers, lemons and limes!
