Recipes for SIMPLE “Additive-Free” Eating

As you may already know, I am highly sensitive to chemicals and food additives (they REALLY jacked up my health big time – you can read more here if you’d like).

So now I prepare all of my own meals at home from ingredients that come from nature. And, as long as I keep my diet additive-free, I feel absolutely fine! Yay!

Seven years ago when I was suffering with Fibromyalgia, I was living on frozen dinners, diet soda and fast food….so I totally understand when people feel overwhelmed at the idea of starting to make their own food. But I really want everyone to know that it really doesn’t have to be complicated…and you don’t have to make exotic dishes with obscure ingredient! You can still enjoy simple, standard American dishes!

Sure, if I want to eat enchiladas or something else that’s complicated, then I’m gonna have to spend a good chunk of my time in the kitchen. But most of the time, I have other things I’d rather be doing than cooking, so I eat much more simply most of the time.

Below are 10 of my favorite simple ideas and recipes to get you started if you’d like to try out some additive-free meals without spending all day in the kitchen!

Follow your dreams…it’s WORTH it!!!

Years ago, I started this website to share my passion with the world about natural foods. Eventually, I incorporated many aspects of holistic health. And for those of you who’ve been around a while, you’ve seen the progression of the site as it has widened in scope to include a lot more about inspirational living, motivation, happiness and following your dreams – which I think makes a lot of sense considering our name is “Completely Nourished,” after all.  🙂

branched oakIf you’re not totally up to speed on what’s been happenin’ around here this year, Chad and I had a random idea this past January that we should sell all of our belongings (and our home) and get an RV and travel full-time. Uh, ya…not our personalities at all….but our hearts were crying out to us, and it felt SO right. Fast forward 11 months, and…we DID it!!! Woohooo!!!! Honestly, I don’t think it has really fully sank in yet. Or maybe it has…who knows? LOL! It’s funny how the hugest goals can feel not huge at all once you accomplish them…they just feel…well….”right.”

We officially launched “full-time” in our RV from Nebraska a few weeks ago, and are now “escaping” the freezing cold winter down in Texas. We’re in Rockport, TX along the Gulf Coast at the moment. We’ll be here another 3 weeks at least, and we intend to stay the whole winter, but ya just never know…

mckinneyWell, anyway…I’ve been a bit “off the radar” these past 6-9 months or so as we’ve “overhauled” our life, but we’re settling in now, and I’m back in action. So I just wanted to drop by and tell you that… if you have a dream, you’ve GOT to do whatever it takes to follow your heart and go for it!! Chad and I have made MANY “leaps of faith” over the past few years…ya know, the kind that sorta make you wanna puke (or chicken out) right before you go through with it (like quitting our jobs, etc.)! And…every single time that we’ve taken these “risks” (with nothing but good intentions in our hearts), things have ALWAYS had a way of working out.

dream big2As we were out exploring in Austin, TX last week, I found myself overcome with emotion about having accomplished our RV dream, so I made this little video for all of you (see below). I held back quite a bit because the area started to get crowded (I thought I’d found a private spot when I decided to turn on the camera) and I got a little “chicken,” but next time I’ll say screw it and just go for it full force, anyway….I promise! 🙂

Got Worms? An Organic Gardening Guide to Chemical-Free Pest Control

Check out these great gardening tips from Omaha health & fitness expert Stephanie Bell (and be sure to follow her blog, too!)…

You know those pretty white butterflies that innocently flutter around your vegetable garden? They are white demons about to lay eggs on your produce that will hatch worms who have the munchies. Yes, I’m a hater and still harboring some ill will. After they infested my kale, I decided to seek the advice from pros. Ya see, I come from good tree huggin’ stock. Who better to ask than my father, Dan Bell, who has over 30 years of organic gardening experience (my mom represents on the flower garden side). This is what Dad Bell had to say…

Preventative Care

1. Cover Up. Protect your plants by purchasing floating row covers which is a netting that prevents insects from laying eggs on your plants.

2. Infiltrate from the Inside. Bacillus Thuringiensis (Bt) or Thuricide is a soil-borne bacteria that has been used since the 1950s to control insects…

My Journey from Fibromyalgia to Food

IMG_3682

If you know anyone who suffers from any chronic symptoms for which no one has found a solution, please share my return-to-health story with them!

Reducing the amount of food additives in my diet back in 2007 relieved my Fibromyalgia symptoms beyond my wildest dreams – I truly “got my LIFE back”!

Did you know, for example, that the flavor enhancer MSG overstimulates the nervous system, causing and exacerbating a variety of conditions…and that it can be legally HIDDEN in foods under DOZENS of innocent-sounding names like “NATURAL FLAVOR” and “YEAST EXTRACT”? (Click here to check out my “Eating Additive-Free” Natural Cookbook & Grocery Shopping Guide that I created to help you start reducing the amount of food additives in your diet!)

Please take some time to listen to the recording below to learn how such additives may be affecting you, and feel free to share this post with ANYONE it may help.
